The general objective of the present study was the antifungal effect, in vitro, the
hydroalcoholic extract of the inflorescence of Rumex crispus (cow tongue) against
the strains of Ttrichophyton rubrum ATCC 28188. The inflorescence of Rumex
crispus was collected in the district from Palca, province of Tarma, Junín region in
Peru to the month of March of the year 2018 and was dried and pulverized to
subsequently be macerated with ethanol 96 °. The method used to determine the
antifungal effect was by Kirby-bauer by disc diffusion. The extract resulting from
the maceration is absorbed in diffusion discs for an antifungal test at 1000; 750;
500 and 250 mg/ml and clotrimazole. The results obtained from the disks with the
ethanolic extract of Rumex crispus at 1000 and 750 mg/ml showed haloes of
inhibition of 13.74 ± 0.97 and 11.15 ± 1.06 mm against strains of Ttrichophyton
rubrum ATCC 28188. It was concluded that the concentrations 1000 and 750
mg/ml have an antifungal effect and both have lower inhibition zones than the
positive control
